Shaw Elementary opened in 1982 and is named after Ruby Shaw, of the Lawrence Family. Ruby Shaw Elementary organizes a variety of extracurricular activities, such as book fairs, children's book weeks, community service projects, field trips, and picture days. The school maintains a parent-teacher association that conducts monthly meetings and organizes various events and activities for the overall development of the school.
Ruby Shaw Elementary has an annual enrollment of approximately 600 students, ranging from pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. We are known for our Community Walks, which take place during each school break, where staff take books and treats to student homes. Students have several leadership opportunities and clubs they can join, such as the National Junior Honor Society, News Crew, Crazy 8 Math Club, Running Club, Soccer Team, and more.
